Our beautiful campsite at Branbury State Park.
Woodstock, Vermont is a beautiful little town with lovely shops, restaurants and galleries.
Of course, NO trip to Vermont is complete without a visit to The Vermont Country Store in Weston.  We visited here a few years ago and couldn't wait to come back.  We left Branbury State Park, relocating to Horseshoe Acres RV Park near Andover, VT not far from Weston.  After settling in, we headed for Weston for lunch in the Orton's Bryant House Restaurant and some power shopping.
The store is chocked full of wonderful toys, tools, gadgets and other items from the past.  They even sell clotheslines and were instrumental in getting a law passed in Vermont that prevents groups like homeowners associations from banning clotheslines in backyards.  Just thinking of hanging clothes outside on a clothesline in January brings back baaaaaaaaaaaaad memories!!!
Anyone for horehound candy or licorice or any of hundreds of other choices?
They consider themselves "purveyors of practical and hard-to-find products", going to great lengths to find products that aren't sold anywhere else.  The general store and catalogue business are built on the premise that all merchandise must be durable and above all - practical.
Here, you can browse for wonderful, classic products that can help simplify your life. The store  has been owned and operated by the Orton family for over 100 years.  Ann spent about 3 hours browsing and shopping here.  She didn't buy a lot but she sure had fun looking.
