Another Canadian province
conquered by Bubba. Unfortunately, the roads were so bumpy that we
chose to bail out and head for the US where we knew the roads were better.
I believe this is the eighth Canadian province Bubba has rolled through. |

All across the Dakotas and
Montana we saw hundreds or maybe thousands of little ponds and areas that
looked like swamps. I can only suppose the ground water is so high in
the area that low lying areas become shallow lakes or ponds. Suppose we
will need to do further research on this. |
|
We were on Highway 5 in North
Dakota when we ran upon a nine-mile stretch of road reconstruction.
Unlike most other states, apparently North Dakota rips up the entire road
leaving cars with nothing but dirt. The sign above could have read
"road construction", no pavement ahead", beware of
earthmoving vehicles", or just about anything except "no
center stripe." Really????? Must have been the only sign they had. |

In northwest Montana, the
roads were good and straight. Miles and miles of wheat and other
grain. Almost all of the land is under some sort of
farming. I can only suppose the farm sizes here are on the larger
end of the scale. |

Finally, our first glimpse of
the Montana Rockies. In the distance you can see Glacier National
Park. |
|
Just before we reached the
Canyon RV Campground, Ann snapped a picture of the Flathead River.
This river creates the largest natural freshwater lake in the western United
States. We will check out the lake later in our visit as it is supposed to
be exceedingly clear. |
|
Nineteen hundred and fifty two miles later, Bubba is nestled into his spot at Canyon RV Campground and
Cabins at Hungry Horse, MT. We are just outside the gates of Glacier
NP and will spend a bit of time there on the "Going to the Sun" road.
You can see we have our flags out and ready for July 4th. We will
stay here until after the holiday crowd drops before moving on. |
