We left Hungry Horse, MT and traveled to Columbia Falls before turning south on CO 83.  This was a beautiful road that led us through part of the Flathead National Forest.
We decided to try a off-the-beaten-path forest service campground on Holland Lake.  In order to reach it, we had to travel 3 miles of dirt road.  Thankfully, it had a good surface and negotiating it was easy.  As you will see in subsequent photos, Holland Lake campground was a good choice.
We learned that there was a 3-mile round trip hike to Holland Falls and decided to take it.
We could see our destination from our campsite on the lake.  If you look closely, you can see Holland Falls in the distance.
As we traveled the 1 1/2 mile one way trail, Harley and Jerry stopped to admire the beautiful water and view.  Harley was so excited to be off-leash!
I know I've said it before, but the clarity of the water in Montana is amazing.  And all the lakes are the most beautiful blue-green color.
As we reached the end of the trail and sat to enjoy the spray of the falls and rest a bit, we had a visitor.  Harley was so tired from the long walk in the 90 degree heat that he didn't even know this little guy was anywhere around!
