Pearl, our truck, got stuck while we were still on top of Mosquito Pass.  Lucky for us, and quite unbelievable, there was a tow truck already up there to scout out how to recover a vehicle that had slid off the side of the mountain.  First time I have seen a tow truck on any of these back roads.  Lucky for us, the tow fee was cheap and the service was fast.
Hard to tell, but it looks like we just high centered on the ice and snow.  Don't know for sure, but we might have been able to extract ourselves with some time and elbow grease.  Needless to say, we didn't attempt to go down the other side.  Actually, the tow truck operators said the road was blocked with snow just out of our sight.
Here is the "situation" the tow guys were really after.  They could not get the car out on that day so would have to come back later with additional equipment.  Sure hope the driver and riders of this vehicle had their brown pants on!
Turquoise Lake, just outside of Leadville.
Unfortunately, we had to leave Colorado and return to Arkansas rather quickly.  Here is a view of the Arkansas River as it courses its way toward the Royal Gorge along US Highway 50.  Read Ann's Journal to find out what really happened.
Bubba back in Arkansas camped on Beaver Lake near Eureka Springs.  This picture was taken on August 11, 2011.
We used this time to just unwind and meditate.  Can you think of a better place than on the point of a lake in Arkansas?
