We started out in the summer of
2011 mainly to get out of the heat and spend a little time with the
cousins. As I mentioned in the opening comments, we first attended
an RV rally before meeting up with Jim and Gaye and heading to cooler
climates. Jerry and I intended to spend two months in
Colorado. Jim and Gaye were only
going to spend a month. But alas, on July 21st, Jim got a call from
his brother that our Uncle Dan Oates had passed away. So, we
packed up our motorhomes and headed back home for the funeral. As
you would expect, the heat was terrible. So, for a couple of weeks
after the funeral we just roamed around various campsites looking for the
one with the coolest creek nearby. Everybody in north Arkansas had
the same idea, but we kept moving until we ended up with a break in the
weather on Beaver Lake, near Eureka Springs. The ending was not exactly as
planned, but life is full of challenges. We survived. |
