A perfect spot for a photo of Annie's two favorite men!
Ah, yes . . . another picnic spot, this one along the Clark's Fork of the Yellowstone River.
And, as always, Petit Jean products were on the menu.  Mmmm . . . mmmm . . . good!
As we arrived at the Silver Gate entrance into Yellowstone, near Cooke City, we realized that we have now traversed through all of the park's entrances over the years.  Our first trip to Yellowstone was in the summer of 1979 and our last, just a couple of weeks ago.
Needless to say, camping at one campgrounds within the park, during the summer months, is nearly impossible.
Normally, Harley is a great rider.  One of his favorite activities is to "go in the car" but we were reminded, while on the Beartooth, that he doesn't tolerate high mountain passes very well.  He becomes very anxious and pants a lot.  We assume that is because of the changing air pressure, as we climb in altitude can sense the decreased oxygen in the air.  So, we decided not to retrace our route along the Beartooth to get back to our campsite but, rather, to travel a circuitous route along the Chief Joseph.
The Chief Joseph follows the Clark's Fork of the Yellowstone (the same one where we had our picnic) as it travels through deep ravines.  This photo was taken from a scenic vista along the highway.
