Back in October 2007, we had been on the road for nine months and were returning from Alaska when we passed through Yellowstone National Park.  Our collective memories have faded, but we do remember making a decision not to post as many pictures in future segments on our website.  So, the Dawson Creek to Arkansas segment, which documented our trip home through some very beautiful country, had only five photos from Yellowstone.

When we put together this year's (2013) Wyoming segment, which included a drive-through of Yellowstone, we realized that our photo treasure trove of 2007 Yellowstone photos was never seen by our friends.  In our walk down memory lane, we decided to post those old photos because they are so special to us.  Because it was late in the season, the park was full of wildlife and empty of visitors.  We literally had the park to ourselves.

Since our memory has faded, we can comment on just a few of the "lost" photos.  Nevertheless, we think you will enjoy them.  Remember, it is Fall six years ago, so the weather was much cooler and the devastation of the land lost to fire in 1988 more pronounced.  If you haven't been to Yellowstone, we hope these photos will convince you to put it on your "bucket list".  Happy Trails!

Soon after entering the park in West Yellowstone, we began to see elk.  We were amazed at the number of animals in the park during our Fall tour.
The animals were not very interested in humans.  I suppose they were busy storing fat for the winter to come.
At Madison Junction, we turned right then veered onto the Firehole Canyon Drive.
This drive follows the Firehole River and is spectacular.
It is a one-way road with pull-offs to allow for picture taking.
Around every corner, you see a sight more beautiful than the last.
The Firehole River Canyon is one of our favorites drives in the park.  We were lucky enough one year to be able to snowmobile the canyon road one year and it was breathtaking!
