Established in the mid-1830's, Bonneyville Mills in Bristol, IN has produced quality, stone ground flour for over 150 years. The mill grinds corn, wheat, rye and buckwheat the old-fashioned way, slowly, methodically as if time was only water over the dam.
There are numerous Amish communities south of Elkhart and South Bend, including Middlebury, Shipshewana, Nappanee and Wakarusa. Many Amish men worked in the RV factories in the area. Unfortunately, many of these factories have closed because of the economy and the slump in the RV industry.
An Amish grocery store we saw while driving the Heritage Trail. About 20,000 Amish live in this area.
The Lincoln Tomb in Springfield, Illinois. Lincoln had 12 funerals, two in Washington, D.C, seven along the route to Springfield and three in Springfield. They buried him first in a temporary grave then transferred him to another grave and then, in 1874, they moved his body here.
This is Lincoln's actual tomb. He is buried ten feet below the Arkansas marble headstone and floor.
