Abraham Lincoln's home at the corner of 8th and Jackson Street in Springfield.  He was a successful lawyer and lived here for 25 years before becoming president.  His home, and the historic 4-block neighborhood, is now a National Historic Site.

Thankful to be back home with our dear friends, Diane and Bill Pharis.  We camped in our motorhomes on Mount Magazine for a long weekend in late May.  Of course, we hiked!

August 1, 2008 was a very lucky day for us.  Our friend, Bill Pharis, called to tell us of a puppy mill bust near Jasper.  We followed up and Harley became our little boy.  He has been a joy since the first day we brought him home.  Thanks, Bill.
In October, following the crash of the stock market, we decided to spend a couple of weeks at one of our favorite Corps of Engineers campgrounds, Sweeden Island on the Arkansas River, near Atkins.  We needed a break to regroup and decide whether to go forward with building our home.  This beautiful sunset is from our campsite.
