Homer is a big fishing village, particularly for tourist-chartered boats.  Here is today's Halibut catch for some lucky fisherman.  Our RV neighbors from Austria caught 200 pounds of Halibut in one day.
An old landmark of Homer Spit is the Salty Dawg Saloon, a collection of three separate buildings assembled into one watering hole.
Inside the walls and ceiling are lined with dollar bills, tee shirts, bras, business cards and maybe a few other things.
We ponied up a dollar, put our names on it and tacked it to the wall.  If you go there, look on the back wall to the left of the juke box.
After a not-too-pleasing Salty Dog, we left to go back to Bubba.
When we got to Bubba, lo and behold, our national emblem was strutting on the beach right in front of us.  Wow!
The next day we took a bush plane to Katmai National Park to view bears.  Here we are, leaving the Homer Airport.
Katmai National Park can only be reached by private boat or plane, hence it is a wild and rugged place.
On the plane trip over, we passed by Augustine Island, a recently active volcano that still emits smoke.
