We toured the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward. It is primarily a research and rehabilition facility, but does have some exhibits for the public.
In the seabird rookery, we saw Common Murre, beautiful birds with coloring similar to penguins.
And Horned and Tufted Puffins. They were so cute!
And there were lots of big fishes in the tanks.
Not to mention a Harbor Seal swimming upside down in its tank. In fact, they swim upside down most of the time.
We loved Seward. It is a really neat town in a beautiful setting. Worth a visit.
This particular picture was taken on the way to Homer, Alaska, but fireweed is everywhere in the Yukon and Alaska.
We made it, broken winshield and all. Homer is a town of about 5,000 people, recently designated by National Geographic as the Best Wilderness Town to Live In.
I just had to check out the bay after we parked Bubba on the Homer Spit, a five-mile strip of land in Kachemak Bay.
