Traveling toward the north
entrance at Mammoth Hot Springs, we had snow! |
 |
The Mammoth Hot Springs area is
like no other part of the park. |
 |
Overlooking one of the park's
numerous lakes. |
 |
The Roosevelt Arch was built at
the park's first entrance, just south of Gardiner, MT, in 1903.. |
 |
Pronghorn antelope can be seen
all over Wyoming and Montana. They are beautiful creatures. |
 |
Due to its year-round access and
comparatively mild winters, Mammoth has always been the headquarters for
the park. The administrative offices are housed in a building that
used to be part of Fort Yellowstone, established to maintain and protect
the Yellowstone area before it became a national park. |
 |
All around the old fort and
administrative buildings you can see elk. Look at the rack on this
old boy! |
