Our first glimpse of Monument Valley, documented in movies, TV commercials, and most importantly, director John Ford's westerns. And everyone knows how we love westerns!
Monument Valley is located within a Navajo Tribal Park which spans the border between northern Arizona southern Utah. A self-guided drive through the park offers spectacular views of cutler red sandstone buttes, mesas, canyons and free-standing rock formations. Pictured here are Mitten Butte, East Mitten Butte and Merrick Butte. The "mittens" have been captured on many films ranging from John Wayne westerns to modern day blockbusters like "Windtalkers".
