Kodachrome Basin is a Utah state park that we discovered 9 years ago. We liked it so much that we decided to make a return visit, this time to stay more than just a couple of hours. It was only 36 miles from Red Canyon campground to Kodachrome Basin, so that allowed for a lazy morning of enjoying our last hours in great little Red Canyon campground.
Kodachrome is a small, popular park that contains eroded, multicolored rock formations in various shades of red, yellow, pink, white and brown. Together, with the usual deep blue sky, led the National Geographic Society to name the area in 1949, with the consent of the Kodak Corporation. Interestingly, Kodak no longer makes kodachrome film.
While here, we took a side trip through Cottonwood Canyon to Grosvenor Arch, one of Utah’s most famous double-arches. It was a lovely drive and Harley loved the hike to the arches.
From here, we are headed to Monument Valley where John Ford filmed many of his western classics.
Until next time, happy trails to you . . . til we meet again.
